Fimcap Activities

Background

Fimcap Asia

In the last General Assembly in Assisi, the three Asian member organizations, Chiro Philippines, Indian Catholic Youth Movement and Pubuduwa (Sri Lanka) came together and discussed possible ways to collaborate within the continent.  The ideas resulting from this meeting include working together on common projects, strengthening of ties between the Asian organizations, establishing linkages within the continent, and coming up with procedures on how to work together.

Green Project in Sri Lanka

Planting trees all over Sri Lanka

Last November 2010, FIMCAP Asia launched 'The Green Project' as an opportunity to responsibly care for and love nature.

Kithudana pubuduwa, Sri Lanka, a member organization of Fimcap Asia planted trees in various places on 05th June during the "The World Environment Day".

The members of Pubuduwa , especially the youth, took part in the Green Project of planting a tree/s in their own gardens. Pubuduwa organized tree planting in some places including Prasaasaramaya, Colombo and Darmaramaya, Chilaw.  The elders whether little or arge groups also enjoyed the tree planting activity.

Pubuduwa Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Oscar Abayarathne, Ranjana Kaviratne (animator of FIMCAP Asia), Brother Rohan Appuhami, and other national leaders of Pubuduwa, together with all other people gathered on that day for the Fimcap Green Project.

We hope all Fimcap friends continue the Green Project to make this environment pleasant for the children of the future generation.

Sameera Warnakulasuriya, Vice President - FIMCAP Asia
