FIMCAP stands up against climate change

Roman Sieler is currently representing FIMCAP at COP25, the UN climate conference. He is part of the delegation of the European Youth Forum. As FIMCAP we find it very important to be there and to raise our voice about the climate crisis.

During the 2019 General Assembly, FIMCAP agreed on a resolution calling for immediate and comprehensive actions to combat the climate crisis, following the spirit of Pope Francis’ second encyclica Laudato si’. You can read the FIMCAP resolution here.

We think it is crucial that young generations are listened to, as they will be most affected by the consequences of climate change.

FIMCAP therefore calls for political decision makers to increase collective efforts against the climate crisis. We collected a range of demands we consider crucial to meet our common goal to save our living space. We demand for instance increased global cooperation, we expect that nations bring their individual pledges in line with the 1.5° target and we want enhanced support for developing nations as well as stronger protection for threatened ecosystems. The resolution is in line with additional efforts of our member organizations as well as of FIMCAP, as illustrated by FIMCAP’s membership in the Generation Climate Europe coalition.
