Dear FIMCAP friends and LINK readers

After a lot of work the new website of FIMCAP has been online for a few months. The moment has therefore come to transfer LINK into a more modern phase. As decided by the last General Assembly, LINK will be transferred to an electronic newsletter, sent by e-mail. LINK brings FIMCAP members together by providing information, news and thoughts from all FIMCAP continents, and now also in a modern digital format.

After 9 years as LINK editor, I decided to step down at the upcoming General Assembly in August. Doing this task, I enjoyed staying in contact with many FIMCAP people in nearly all member organisations. I hope that you will keep this united FIMCAP spirit and that you focus on cooperation between organisations and intercultural exchanges.

I would like to thank you for your support and I hope you enjoyed reading LINK with the news from our member organisations from all over the world.

I wish you all the best and would be happy to meeting you once again in the network of FIMCAP. Take care!

Pascal Vonlanthen, LINK Editor

FIMCAP General Assembly 2016

Less than 3 months are left until the General Assembly takes place in Switzerland. During one week we will discuss the Sustainable Development Goals, but you will also have the opportunity to see the impressive landscape of Switzerland.

The European participants from the World Camp in Rwanda have met each other again in Berlin, from 18 - 22 November, 2015. The main topic for these five days was a group challenge about children’s rights.

The follow-up seminar started with a session to look back at the World Camp. With help of a line chart we talked about all our high and low points. We also brought along our favourite picture. Among all the numerous experiences it was not easy to choose one single picture. But it was very interesting to hear about each other’s feelings; sometimes they were similar, sometimes different feelings were experienced in the same situation. But all of us looked back at the World Camp with a big smile. That evening we also started with a short brainstorm about our current ideas for the group challenge.

On July 18, 2015, six adventurous Jubla leaders started an unforgettable trip to the Philippines. They got to know the country, culture and Chiro Pilipinas. Countless impressions and newly gained friends made it really hard to say goodbye

First impressions

As soon as we had left the airplane we headed into the metropolis of Manila – a huge city with more than 24 million inhabitants. None of us had ever been in such a big and vivid city, so we were happy about our native guides from Chiro Philippines –we would have got lost without them.

FIMCAP Africa, represented by John Agordey, member of Catholic Youth Organisation CYO Ghana, attended the 7th African University on Youth and Development, held in Nairobi, Kenya, and hosted by the Network for International Youth Organizations in Africa (NIYOA), of which FIMCAP Africa is a member.

The theme of the programme was «Youth Organizations: Actors for Change». It was attended by the various young groups from the Network for International Youth Organization in Africa (NIYOA), North-South Centre of Council of Europe (NSC) and African Diaspora Youth Network in Europe (ADYNE).

30 members from all around KjG met in October for four days of policy discussions, developping campaigns and networking on the topic of freedom.

The youth policy seminar of KJG took place in Berlin, from 1 to 4 October 2015. On Friday we had been able to discuss our demands and positions with politicians from the Bundestag (national parliament).
