Vision: We see Chiro as a nation builder of all times approaching the task in spirit of Christ, where youth will be proud to belong and move forward with the adult community.
Mission: To promote spiritual formation and image of our members through evangelization and participation in ecumenical and community projects. The region will secure ownership of property, run itself and be self-reliant. All stakeholders will be communicated to and all Chiro tools/resources will be used to the maximum.
When did the organisation start? THE MOVEMENT STARTED IN 1979 AND WAS BROUGHT TO THE COUNTRY BY THE LATE RT.REV. BONIFACE TSHOSA SETLALEKGOSI.
How many members does it have? CHIRO BOTSWANA HAS 2035 MEMBERS divided into 3 structures:
✓ Chiro Junior Group-school going age to 15years
✓ Chiro Youth Group-16 to 25 years
✓ Chiro senior Group-26 to 35 years
✓ We also have the “ADULT SUPPORTIVE BODY”, aged 36+ and are there to give support
What kind of activity do they carry out?
✓ SPIRITUAL: Retreats, Revivals, Bible quiz, Rosary walks, etc
✓ EDUCATIONAL: Leadership workshops, seminars, Business symposiums, etc
✓ RECREATIVE: Sports camps, Talent shows, etc
✓ SOCIAL OUTREACH: Donating to orphans, visiting the sick and the needy, etc
Do your members wear a uniform or some kind of symbol? Our members wear uniform like in the pictures.
Do you have a theme for the year? We adopted the 2020 World youth day theme: “Young man, I say to you, arise!”(Luke 7: 14)
Do you publish a magazine or newsletter for your members? Currently we only use social media platforms like Facebook but we are working on developing our Chiro magazine (Flame). All members will be required to subscribe to it.

How many members does it have? 80,000 members.
What kind of activity do they carry out? Youth leadership, capacity building, micro projects for youth resilience, prayer, games, etc.
Do your members wear a uniform or some kind of symbol? Yes, they wear the uniform and insignia.
Do you have a theme for the year? Yes, but not yet for 2020 as we are at the beginning of the pastoral year. We are planning a planning meeting soon.
Are you in a society or do you have international activities? Yes, we were in partnership with BD but the partnership has been broken, currently we are in partnership with German NGOs working in the civil service for peace (Eirene, GIZ and Peace for the World).

When did the organisation start? The organisation started operating on January 31st 1993.
How many members do you have? The membership of the organisation keeps increasing; currently we have up to 1115 members in the organisation.
What kind of activities do they carry out? Part of our mission is meeting the religious, social and recreational needs of our youths in a bid to help them live a Christ like life and as well be useful to the society. Here are highlights of some of our activities:
1. Religious activities: Crusades or All Night prayers, Retreats, Pilgrimages, Bible Studies, Church cleaning, singer-fest, home visitations, Thanksgiving celebrations and caring for fellow members.
2. Social activities: Sports (footbal, volleyball and athletics), Music ministry, engaging in educational and other developmental activities such as quiz and debates, National and International campaigns against corruption, nonviolence, work against rape and sexual assaults, against domestic violence, teenage pregnancy and early marriage; promote equality, fight against social injustice and for youth empowerment through World Youth Day, National Youth Assembly etc.
3. Educational Activities: we organise quarterly workshops to empower our membership with knowledge on beneficial topics including the Catholic Doctrine.

Do you have a theme for the year? Theme 2019-2020 `Christ is alive` (Christus Vivit).
Do you publish a magazine or newsletter for your members? We did publish quarterly newsletters not only for our membership but also for the consumption of the catholic community within Sierra Leone. However, it’s been two years since we did our last publication of the newsletter. Instead of a newsletter, this year we published a photo news on our thanksgiving activities.
More information: The Organization helps crusaders/members become good national leaders and Stewards for Christ. It helps promote Unity and faithfulness in the body of Christ. To strive to be good Catholic Youths who obey the rules and regulations of the Church, coordinate with other Church Organizations and the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). More information: The Xaveri Movement was founded in 1952 by the Reverend Father George DEFOUR.
