The Value of Play

“Playing is a basic right for all children.
They experience many values, such as peace, responsibility, equality, respect, justice and solidarity, which are important for FIMCAP and society.

Children and youth also learn and practise many useful skills, such as communicating, leading, sharing, critical thinking, and many more.
Playing is a way of life.”

Mission Statement The Value of Play, FIMCAP General Assembly 2019

The current theme of FIMCAP for the years 2019-2022 is The Value of Play.
As all our member organizations work with children and young people, we believe we have an expertise in why play is an essential part of growing up and lifelong learning. At intercontinental level, we are in the process of developing an action plan that member organisations can join. Some organisations also have their own action plan.

In the logo you can see the number 31. This is a reference to article 31 in the Convention on the Rights of the Child:
“That every child has the right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.”
