World Camp 2025

Every three years, FIMCAP organizes a World Camp together with one of its member organisations.

After 9 successful editions, FIMCAP will celebrate the 10th anniversary of World Camp in Chile in January 2025! For 3 weeks, young people from all FIMCAP member organisations are invited by JUPACH Chile to join the World Camp on the topic of Solidarity.

The World Camp is an encounter for young people. Participants are youth leaders between 20 and 30 years old. The host organization JUPACH will strongly involve their local youth groups, as the participants of World Camp will join the local summer camps of JUPACH. Through working in local projects and living in host families, participants will experience the reality of daily life in Chile, and especially the situation of the young people there. Participants will present their own culture and get to know the cultures of the other participants. Activities like songs, dances, games and liturgy will be organized as a process of cross-cultural experiences.

The World Camp gives us the concrete opportunity to show and live in solidarity. Participants will be involved in different projects and will develop their creative talents in supporting the local community.

For the Participants

Where and when will the World Camp be?

Who is leading and coordinating the Worldcamp?

FIMCAP has a big coordination team that is working together with the coordinators of JUPACH to organise the World Camp 2025. Pablo (MSECC, Catalonia) and Loïc (Patro, Belgium) together with Ruben (presidium) and Marie (presidium) are the coordinating team from FIMCAP. Carolina (JUPACH) and Lucho (JUPACH) are the local coordinators from Chile. All of them were participants in former Worldcamps.
The coordinator for administration is Maria (former ESC volunteer), the coordinator for communication is Joy (ATEITIS) together with Kaone (Chiro Botswana) and the coordinator for finances is Stilman (Chiro Flanders).

How much does the World Camp cost?

There is a participation fee of 250€ that covers accommodation, food, transport, activities and other resources that will be needed in the World Camp. If possible, you can also pay a solidarity fee of 300€ or 350€ that will help reimburse more participants for the World Camp in general. FIMCAP will reimburse the full travel costs of 2 participants per member organisation. Other private expenses like spending some more days as a vacation in Chile are in your hands.

How do I subscribe?

What will the programme of World Camp be?

Welcoming days: program with all participants together. Participants get to know each other, the hosting organisation and the host country. The theme is introduced.
Project days: the participants are split into smaller groups with mixed nationalities. Each group goes to a different project to do voluntary work. During the project days the participants stay with a host family and will be joining the local camps of JUPACH Chile.
Closing days: the participants come together again for closing sessions on the theme and the evaluation.

What do I need to bring with me? Is there a packing list?

Make sure that you pack light as you will move around in Chile to go to different places. A backpack is recommended rather than a suitcase on wheels. Be aware that it will be summer in Chile and make sure, that you are prepared for hot temperatures and bring comfortable shoes, that are sturdy enough. Make sure that you have all the needed travel vaccines for Chile and pack your own medicines if you need to take some. Once you are officially inscribed as a participant, you will receive a more detailed packing list.

What is expected from the participants before and during the World Camp?

Participants have to communicate with their member organisation and prepare all their travel documents, get visa appointments etc. Participants are expected to participate actively and work together as a group throughout the World Camp especially in the working days in the projects. A positive attitude and work ethic, as well as open-mindedness and a curiosity towards different cultures is very helpful!

Yes! World Camp is all about learning from each other and exchanging about our different cultures and member organisations. There will be special nights where you get to showcase your country, your traditions and the work of your member organisation. You can bring traditional clothes, food/drinks, promotion materials of your MO, pictures of activities, gadgets of your country, flags, traditional music etc and much more. Please make sure that you only pack things that are not restricted from border control 😉

Is there always the possibility to go to a hospital or to find medication?

How is the weather? Could something like a flood, fire, earthquake happen in Chile?
