Young Voices on Climate Justice

Evy Hoeben News

Last week Generation Climate Europe (GCE) presented its report “Young Voices on Climate Justice”. GCE is the largest coalition of youth-led NGOs at the European level, pushing for stronger action from the EU on climate and environmental issues. FIMCAP Europe is one of the founding members of GCE and is taking the lead in the working group on climate justice.

361 young people across Europe were interviewed on what can be done to promote climate justice, leading to an extensive report. The report shows that young people not only demand change, they also have a wide range of ideas and suggestions to solve the problems they point out. Their suggestions show what the young generation cares about. Their suggestions can serve as an inspiration for urgently needed climate policies taking the most vulnerable into account, both on the domestic and global scale.

The report was launched on the 18th November during an online event. At the event the following panellists reacted to the report:

  • Aleksandra Tomczak, Member of the Cabinet of the Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans, European Commission
  • Yannick Jadot, MEP, Greens/EFA, Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety
  • Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, MEP, S&D, Member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy
